Extracellular vesicles and intercellular communication in the central nervous system

چکیده
Neurons and glial cells of the central nervous system (CNS) release extracellular vesicles (EVs) to interstitial fluid brain spinal cord parenchyma. EVs contain proteins, nucleic acids lipids that can be taken up by, modulate behaviour of, neighbouring recipient cells. The functions have been extensively studied in context neurodegenerative diseases. However, mechanisms involved EV-mediated neuron–glial communication under physiological conditions or healthy ageing remain unclear. A better understanding myriad roles CNS homeostasis is essential for development novel therapeutics alleviate reverse neurological disturbances ageing. Proteomic studies are beginning reveal cell type-specific EV cargo signatures may one day allow us target specific neuronal populations treatment debilitating disorders. This review aims synthesise current literature regarding cell–cell brain, predominantly conditions.

Extracellular vesicles and intercellular communication within the nervous system
Introduction Recent research has revealed an expanded range of modes of communication among cells, which includes not only the secretome (organic molecules and inorganic elements), but also vesicular and particulate carriers, which contain proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids that are not soluble or are unstable in the extracellular environment on their own. This new modality is exemplified by e...

Extracellular vesicles (EVs, including exosomes) are implicated in many aspects of nervous system development and function, including regulation of synaptic communication, synaptic strength, and nerve regeneration. They mediate the transfer of packets of information in the form of nonsecreted proteins and DNA/RNA protected within a membrane compartment. EVs are essential for the packaging and t...

The 2013 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine recognized pioneering research on secretion of proteins outside the cell and the delivery of selected cargo to specific intracellular compartments via secretory vesicles. This seminal work, performed in yeast and mammalian cells, defined multiple vital roles vesicles play in cellular physiology. Recent studies have revealed the critical role of ves...
متن کاملADENOSINE IN THE CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM
Besides being a metabolite of nucleotides like ATP, adenosine is a mediator of neuronal function in the central nervous system. Its actions are mediated by at least three extracellular receptors. In this review different aspects of adenosine such as biosynthesis, release, inactivation and its receptors are discussed. It also covers pre- and postsynaptic effects as well as postreceptor mecha...
متن کاملExtracellular vesicles: masters of intercellular communication and potential clinical interventions.
Intercellular signaling via extracellular vesicles (EVs) is an underappreciated modality of cell-cell crosstalk that enables cells to convey packages of complex instructions to specific recipient cells. EVs transmit these instructions through their cargoes of multiple proteins, nucleic acids, and specialized lipids, which are derived from their cells of origin and allow for combinatorial effect...
